Frankenstein Kay ET-110 "Tulip" electric guitar by Teisco

Product Description

Here's a "bitzer"  Kay guitar - sometimes badged as Teisco. I've had a few "tulip" models, and had some spare parts..a neck, pickups, scratchplate etc, so decided to make a new body and put together a comnplete guitar. This is 100% - no missing parts, no dodgy electrics. Two single coil pickups - the original microscopically thin chrome plating  is a bit sketchy in places. Instead of the original skinny lightweight body, I've made a solid cherrywood body, thicker and heavier than the original, with a tobaccoburst, finished in TrueOil to a 'closet classic' standard.

It's been around the block a bit, but after all, it is nigh on 50 years old. It has been cleaned, the mechanical and electrical components have been checked and serviced, it's had a new set of strings and been set-up. The result is a tidy looking guitar with no issues that plays and sounds just great.

The trussrod is working and the frets have been polished, no loose or missing binding and it plays just fine.

Electrics are all working, with brand new Alpha tone and volume pots, Sprague "orange drop" tone capacitor and Neutrik jack, so it all works as it should..in fact it's better than new.

It's all as it should be, and I pride myself in sorting out these details properly - no bodges, no things left undone or missing.

Replacement tone and volume knobs, replacement bridge and tailpiece, all period correct pattern pieces.

Fresh d'Addario XL nickel wound .010 strings.

All in all it's a nice instrument with no issues - an interesting addition to any collection, or simply a great guitar to play and enjoy. The combination of slightly microphonic pickups and the new chunky body makes this Frankenstein a real monster!
